Sometimes, a glamorous career conceals many of the most tragic stories. Lolo was able to achieve her current post after a lot of struggle and perseverance. A single mother in a family of five kids, Jones had a difficult and impoverished childhood. Her mother was constantly moving and lived for a time in a church basement. Jones' nomadic lifestyle made her change school every year up to graduation. Jones, who was interested in the track events at Theodore Roosevelt the high school lived away from her mother to pursue her love of track.
